Psychotherapy in Noosa Heads

I provide psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and families experiencing difficult or complex periods in their lives. My practice is grounded in Systemic Family Therapy and Narrative Therapy, with particular experience working with complex trauma, anxiety and depression, eating disorders and other significant mental health difficulties.

People rarely seek psychotherapy because they have a diagnosis.

They come because something in life has become difficult to bear.

I work with adults, adolescents and families experiencing complex and enduring mental health difficulties, including complex trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety and psychosis. My practice is informed by systemic and narrative approaches, and by more than a decade working in specialist public mental health services and private practice.

Where difficulties are closely connected with family or relationship dynamics, therapy may involve the people who are significant to the situation rather than focusing on one person in isolation.

While relief from suffering matters, I believe psychotherapy asks something deeper than “What should change?”

It asks,

How has the world come to appear the way it has?

Together we examine the histories, relationships, responsibilities and ideas through which a life has become organised. Not to explain your life away, but to discover what other possibilities become visible once familiar assumptions are examined with care.

This work is collaborative, thoughtful and sometimes demanding. It is not a brief, skills-based approach, although relief from immediate suffering remains an important part of the work.

Psychotherapy begins where we step past interventions and into making sense of our lives.
